DVD Player, TV with no A/V inputs, and RF modulator. Alternate diagram below adds a VCR. I've revised the alternate diagram to eliminate the need for an RF switch box based on some first-hand experience with Radio Shack's RF modulator. The modulator includes an RF "antenna" input that can be used as shown to connect the VCR to the modulator. Any time that the DVD player is on and sending a signal to the modulator, the A/V input (meaning of course the DVD player) will be passed on to the TV; the TV will need to be set to either channel 3 or 4, depending on the position of the switch on the back of the modulator. Any time that the DVD player is turned off, the modulator will ignore the A/V input and simply pass the RF "antenna" input through to its output, allowing the VCR's RF output to be passed to the TV normally. The DVD and VCR signals are kept separate rather than connecting the DVD player to the VCR's A/V inputs because passing the DVD player's signal through the VCR will cause the Macrovision copy protection to kick in, ruining the picture.
